2000 - An Awful Year for Music?

So I decided to finally go through my old CMJ cds and upload selected songs onto my computer.... a long process, as I've subscribed to the magazine for big chunks of time from 1997 to present.

This whole process made me realize one thing: 2000 was an awful year for music.

I won't lie, the Smashing Pumpkins' Machina was a little bit of a let down. After the beautiful Adore, the majestic Mellon Collie, and the soaring highs of Siamese Dream, the concept and production of Machina just felt sterile. Oh yeah, the same can be said of Radiohead's Kid A.

The only really incredible albums for me in the year 2000 are:

Death Cab for Cutie We Have the Facts...
Belle and Sebastian Fold Your Hands Child...
